Application Guidelines

Portfolio Submission

• Applicants are required to submit a brief statement of intent describing their artistic vision, approach to Bharatanatyam, and motivation for joining this initiative.

• Optionally, a video snippet of past work can be included to help the selection committee understand the dancer’s style and expressive range.

Collaboration Skills

• Ability to collaborate with mentors, technical staff, or other artists, if applicable.

Health & Safety

• Ensure the dancer can perform safely in unconventional venues (floor conditions, lighting, etc.).

Support Provided

• The initiative may provide travel, accommodation, rehearsal space, or stipend, as applicable.

Evaluation Criteria

• Selection will be based on artistic vision, adaptability, audience engagement potential, and readiness to experiment.

Duration & Format

• Specify the length of participation, rehearsal schedule, and performance expectations.

Documentation & Reflection

• Dancers may be asked to reflect on their creative journey and provide insights into their learning or evolving practice.

Selection Process

• Artists are chosen based on the strength of their concept, the clarity of their narrative, and their openness to exploration. Selected dancers will be connected to one or more Chakra node for hosting during the year. 

• A resource person will be assigned to the artist to be able to understand the history of the piece and to be able to paint the image of his or her choreography with the rich understanding and significance of the place, deity and composer.
